For my music magazine I need to decide on a suitable name, this masthead needs to stand out to the audience and be unique. By the use of an effective masthead the audience will recognise my magazine.
Beatsy- although I like the name beatsy for my mast head, it sounds more like a masthead for a dance genre rather than r and b. This idea is unique and has a ring to it when spoken.
Affinity- this word means liking or a attraction towards something, this word would be effective on my masthead by proposing that the magazine takes a liking to r and b artists.
Subside-this word wouldn’t be as effective on my magazine because it means die down or decrease which brings a negative feeling upon the magazine. R & B music is located a lot in suburb areas which may link my name to my genre.
Holla- this word springs to mind when my audience view it, holla
is a word used in urban chat meaning hello or attract attention from someone, The name holla for my magazine would therefore attract the audiences attention giving a positive response by them picking it up.
Unorthodox- this word means abnormal and not expected, it would give my magazine a unique name and is different from those already on the market. This idea is a 4 syllable word; the audience may feel like it’s a difficult world to pronounce however it is very unique.
After thinking about my ideas carefully I have decided that Unorthodox will be the name of my magazine. Although it is a lengthy word there is nothing like it already on the market. The word also sounds ‘harsh’ similar to some characters in r&b.
